The Process

Three Steps to Clarity

Scientifically structured. Tamper-proof. Server-side scored.

01

Take the Assessment

25 questions drawn from a 1,000-item bank — matrix reasoning, pattern recognition, and sequential logic — randomly selected and uniquely worded each session.

Difficulty adapts within the item bank to target your ability range.

02

Psychometric Scoring

Your answers are scored server-side using Item Response Theory (IRT). IQ is estimated via z-score conversion: IQ = 100 + θ × 15.

Norm-referenced against 10,000-person calibration sample.

Common Questions

How accurate is the ECI?

The assessment achieves a standard error of measurement (SE) below 0.35 θ units at moderate-to-high ability levels — equivalent to a ±5 IQ point 95% confidence interval. This matches the precision of many commercially published IQ instruments.

Is this the same as the official Mensa test?

No. The ECI is an independent online assessment and is not affiliated with Mensa International. However, scores at or above the 98th percentile (IQ ≥ 130) are consistent with typical Mensa qualification thresholds. We provide a Mensa probability estimate in the full report.

Why 25 questions?

Each session draws 25 questions from a 1,000-item calibrated bank, randomly selected and uniquely worded by AI so repeat test-takers see a fresh set. 25 items provides strong statistical reliability while keeping the assessment under 10 minutes — long enough for precision, short enough to avoid fatigue.

Can I retake the test?

Yes, with a 48-hour cooldown to prevent score inflation from practice effects. A retake is included with the $79 one-time upgrade. Score trajectory across sessions is shown in that report.
